Hi I'm Josh, Lama Humkaranatha
And dedicating my life to astrological magic and sacred ritual changed everything.
Back in 2009 when I first had the aspiration to learn astrological magic and esoteric Buddhism, I was still in high school, couldn't find a teacher, but was somehow able to convince my parents to purchase me a copy of Picatrix for Christmas!
Today, I've delved deep into traditional texts of astrological magic, like Picatrix, Three Books of Occult Philosophy, and De Imaginibus, am an ordained Buddhist Lama, and have made 100s of astrological talismans consisting of the planets, fixed stars, and lunar mansions. These talismans have given me opportunities I've never imagined; traveling across the United States, Chile, and Argentina to teach the sacred Buddhist dances of Nepal, founding an international cloud computing consulting business, and leading a sacred pilgrimage to the temples of Nepal's wisdom goddesses with my Guru. These are just a few of the blessings I never could have articulated as desires. Best of all, these talismans have given me the opportunity to help others and my community, where I serve on the board of several non-profits and social enterprises improving access to maternal healthcare resources, democratizing access to Buddhist teachings, rescuing and rehabilitating injured pigeons, and growing food for communities in food deserts. My life has bloomed in ways I could never have imagined due to this magic and I never would never have been capable of these wonders without the mentors I've had in my life.
