Hello
Joshua, Lama Humkaranatha, is a Buddhist Lama, Charya singer, Khayal vocalist, astrological magician, and business strategist known for weaving together ancient wisdom for worldly impact. He works at the crossroads of magic, meditation, music, and entrepreneurship, helping people overcome helplessness and reclaim their power across their life.
My Story
I was born into a lineage of grit. My grandfather was the first generation of his Italian family to be born in the United States. He worked as a West Coast scavenger, what we call early garbage collectors, and taught me that anything discarded as trash has the potential be reclaimed and transformed to something of value. This ethic of turning refuse into resources became the foundation of my life’s work.
I built a career as a business leader, scaling companies and negotiating enterprise contracts, where I learned how power moves in the modern world and that investing in people and opportunities others neglect can lead to unexpected success. However, worldly success always played in service to my spiritual path. Yearning to learn the Buddhadharma since 8 years old, my spiritual path called me to immerse myself in Charya Nritya, the sacred song & dance tradition of the Newah Buddhists, and to extensive training in Vajrayana Buddhism, where I received ordination as a Lama.

Parallel to this, I became a student of Hindustani Classical Music in the lineage of Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan & Pandit Pran Nath through my teacher Michael Stirling, who instructed me in Nad Bram, Nad Yoga, and Raga Theory. These teachings deepened my understanding of natural cycles, proper timing, and breathwork, fundamental forces that mirror astrological patterns and the rhythms of transformation. Through raga, I learned that breath itself is a vehicle of liberation, and timing is everything in both music and life.
I also studied extensively astrological magic, learning to work with planetary forces not as abstract ideas but as living, breathing powers. My mentors include Acharya Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, who entrusted me with Charya practice; my Lakota Sun Dance Chief, who taught me that death is required for rebirth; and countless elders and peers across spiritual and magical disciplines.
Today, I teach Astrology as a Path to Liberate Beings, a course that integrates astrology, magic, and the spiritual sciences of timing and sound. I also offer talismans, rituals, and coaching to those ready to reframe their trajectory to find individualized success in their work, life, and spiritual path.
My Philosophy
I believe fate is negotiable. Helplessness is not a life sentence; it is a pattern that can be dismantled. Like music, life is shaped by breath, timing, and opportunity. When you learn to sensitive yourself to these vibrations, through astrology, magic, and disciplined spiritual practice, you can transform even the most difficult life obstacles into opportunities for liberation.
Astrology, to me, is not just symbolic, it is a living language of cycles, sound, and breath. Magic is the art of aligning with these forces to reshape reality. Music, especially raga, is the embodiment of this alignment, each note, each breath, a negotiation with time and space. Buddhism has grounds all of these experiences in ethics and compassion, ensuring that power serves freedom rather than selfish attachment.
Through my work, I help people:
-
See clearly where they are caught in cycles.
-
Release the identities and habits that hold them back.
-
Step into a new chapter aligned with their truest desires.
I am not here to give you easy answers or predictions. My role is to give you tools, rhythm, and vision, to help you breathe through the changes, to bend fate with precision, and to rebirth yourself with power to serve your purpose.
